Getting dental implants is an intricate process. It is always important to know what you are getting into for any dental treatment before agreeing to it. Here are the steps that need to be taken when you see a dentist for tooth implants.

First: Consultations and Impressions

When you need a restoration, you will need to have a consultation with one of our dental experts. During this meeting, the entire process will be reviewed in detail, and you will be told how your smile will be affected. In the event you are a good candidate for dental implants, then impressions are taken of your teeth so that the implant fits perfectly within your smile.

Second: Implant Is Surgically Placed

Using the best technology available, our professional will surgically place the dental implant within your jaw bone. Since this is surgery, you will be given an anesthetic beforehand. Implants have an incredibly high success rate, so there is little to fear.

Third: After Surgery

Our dentist will provide you with aftercare instructions on how to deal with any discomfort during the first few days. In about six weeks, you will need to visit our office for a follow-up appointment to make sure healing is progressing. Another follow-up needs to be scheduled at the 12-week mark.

Fourth: Abutment and Crown Placement

Once your implant has fully fused with the bone, you can get an abutment and crown placed on top of the implant. Impressions need to be taken again to ensure your crown looks natural within your smile. At your final appointment, your abutment and permanent crown are placed. You will be able to walk out the office with an entirely new tooth.
