If you are missing one or more teeth, now is the time to get them replaced. There is nothing to be embarrassed about; this is one of the most common problems that adults face. In fact, as much as 70% of the population between the ages of 35 and 45 has already lost one of their natural teeth. So what are your tooth replacement options? There are two main choices that Dr. Lesinski can employ for you:

  • Dental implants
  • Bridges

Dr. Lesinski can examine you and recommend which of these options is best for your missing teeth. Dental implants are attached to your jaw bone and a natural looking tooth cap is placed as a crown on the abutment. The other option is a bridge, which functions as an extended crown which is attached to your natural teeth on either side of the gap.

Advantages

A dental implant is commonly the preferred tooth replacement option because it is the closest to simulating your natural teeth. You can treat it like one of your other teeth in terms of cleaning, eating, sleeping, and speaking. It is permanent and will last for decades in most cases. Additionally, because it attaches to your jaw, this option prevents bone disease that may rise from missing teeth.

A bridge is the simpler and less expensive option. Although the fake tooth is slightly less like your natural teeth, it is still a wonderful option to restore your smile, both in appearance and function. Bridge procedures do take longer to complete than implants, and they do affect the neighboring teeth, which must be healthy for the results to last.
