Now viewed as the “gold standard” in tooth replacement, dental implants provide comfort and stability like no other. Replacing missing teeth with implants is a permanent solution that has evolved to support a variety of individual needs, from a single missing tooth to full arch replacement.

The dental implant is composed of three parts: a biocompatible, titanium post surgically placed in the jaw bone, an abutment (connector piece to which the implant restoration attaches) and the implant restoration, which may be a crown or other prosthetic, such as a bridge or full denture. Treatment plans for replacing missing teeth with implants may include one or more of the following:
  • Dental Implants: Single dental implants may be used to replace one or more missing teeth in various areas of the mouth.
  • All-on-4® Implants: The All-on-4® technique relies on the strategic placement of four implants per arch. Positioned in areas of greatest bone density, these implants firmly support a custom crafted prosthetic that can be utilized the same day of treatment.
  • All-on-6® Implants: Similar to the previous method, All-on-6® implants replace a full arch of missing teeth with stability and convenience. A custom made prosthetic attaches to six implants surgically inserted into the jaw bone where density and volume are greatest.
  • Implant Supported Dentures: Implant supported dentures permanently replace a full arch of missing teeth. Designed to be removable or fixed, this tooth replacement solution relies on either a bar or ball retained mechanism for support.
  • Teeth-in-a-Day: Also known as Immediate Load dental implants, the Teeth-in-a-Day procedure allows for the placement of implant posts and delivery of the restorative prosthesis the same day.

Who Is a Candidate for Dental Implants?

Many individuals are candidates for implants, depending on gum tissue, bone and general systemic health. Contact your dentist for more information and to learn if dental implants are right for you.
