Dental Crowns

Dental crowns are common for patients who have one weak tooth or a tooth that has some discoloring or minor chipping. Available in resin, ceramic or porcelain, crowns require two visits to our prosthodontist, Dr. Kathryn E. Ryan. During the first visit, we ensure the tooth can support a crown and begin the filing process to prepare it. We then place a temporary crown. During the second visit, we remove the temporary one and fasten the new, permanent crown into place. Once you get used to the feeling, the crown will look and function like your natural teeth.

Veneers

Like crowns, veneers are useful for filling in gaps or hiding stains and chips. Unlike crowns, which are removable, veneers are an irreversible procedure. These thin pieces of porcelain look like natural teeth and are available in a range of shades to match your natural teeth or make them look whiter. The procedure typically does not require anesthesia. It involves making an impression of your tooth, creating the veneer and then light curing it onto your natural tooth structure. You will attend a follow-up visit soon after to ensure comfort.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are best for people who have extensive damage, including many missing teeth. These natural-looking, fully functional false teeth can last a lifetime when properly cared for. The procedure involves implanting titanium rods into your jawbone. Once healed, we add smaller screws known as abutments. When those heal, we add the implant teeth. Several follow-up visits may be necessary to ensure your comfort.
